The American burying beetle population decline。

个是farmer用杀虫药,教授驳斥说用之前就减少了;

第二个是人们开发土地破坏了这种beetle的栖息地,教授驳斥:其他类似栖息地的beetle都没有少;

Sample Answer:

In this speech, the speaker tears the viewpoint into pieces that American beetles population is reduced due to some special causes, which is mentioned in the reading, and this viewpoint involves three factors: pesticide usage, habitat places reduction and competition in seeking food.

In the first part of the reading passage, the point of view as well as an evidence to the general standpoint, is cited that farmers used too much pesticide, which has been criticized seriously by the speaker who believes and announces that the amount of pesticide usage had been reduced quite long before, leading to the point that this argument is very weak.

The speaker also undermines the second viewpoint made from reading material, which holds that the extreme land development should be responsible for the habitat places'' reduction by hypothesizing that it is proved or explained that many other similar places kept the same situation; therefore, this standpoint makes the second reading points becomes baseless and useless.

The last body of the speech, the speaker and reading materials disagree on each other due to their totally different positions on the issue discussed in the reading as well as listening passage: speakers think that these beetles is capable of finding what can be taken as their food source, which fatally weakens what has been stuck to in the reading.

To sum up, the speaker thinks that the three reasons listed in the reading passage is not so solid, even totally ungrounded through the process of denying what are written in the reading passage.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Young people at present are more willing to help others than those young people in the past.

Sample Answer:

As we all know, people, especially young people, should help each other in order to promote virtues of this kind and create a harmonious atmosphere in society. Recently, an increasing number of sociologists point out that the development of economy and society provides more positive conditions to make young people nowadays more willing to help others than in the past. From my point of view, I agree with those sociologists because increasing awareness of cooperation and advanced technologies both promote young people''s enthusiasm to help others.

First of all, most young people nowadays believe that cooperation could bring about win-win situation and accordingly would like to help others more willingly than before. At the beginning of 20th century, due to the simple work specification and undeveloped technologies, tasks were relatively easy and cooperation bore scarce importance. People lived lives from hand to mouth independently. However, the beginning of the 21st century witnesses the increasingly complicated social structure which necessitates cooperation, and the sense of collaboration permeates ideology at the level of both countries and individuals. At the national level, more and more organizations like WTO have emerged in order to seek for the profits to the most extent. At the individual level, more and more people, especially young people would like to cooperate with others in order to combine their strengths to optimize the results.

Moreover, advanced technologies as well as tools enable the young nowadays to help others possibly and conveniently, which could serve as an incentive to promote their behaviors in return and form a benign circle. Take the on-line Q&A for example. Provided by many famous Internet searching engine companies like Google, Baidu as well as some websites like Sina, Sohu, the on-line service has very simple mechanism: any netizen could present his/her own question on line and provide some points as reward to anyone that could offer the most satisfying answer. In this way, capable people are able to and at the same time encouraged to offer their help on the Internet. In the past, say 100 years ago, face-to-face communication is the precondition to help offered and gained and few tools could be adopted to assist people helping others, which greatly impact people''s enthusiasm about helping others.

In conclusion, I agree with the topic statement that young people nowadays are more willing to help others than the young in the past for the prevalent awareness of cooperation and advanced technologies. As for me, I am quite ready to give my hand to anyone in need. Also, I do derive much greater joy and fun from both offering help and being helped.

1. 骨骼化石连接起来是横着的;

2. 必须高血压才能把血液供到大脑和循环系统;

3. 抬着脖子够树叶太高了,消耗能量;

1. 脖子除了骨骼还有肌肉和另一个东西(给了单词)支撑;

2. 另外一种动物也是同样的情况,但发展了一颗强劲的心脏;

Sample Answer:

The lecture casts doubt on the arguments used in the passage to support that sauropods held their heads near horizontally. Instead the professor claims that sauropod''s head was usually held upright.

It is mentioned in the passage that sauropods'' heads were held vertically based on the assembling of their fossils. In contrast, the lecture argues that muscle, tissue and tendons could also impose certain impacts in determining the animals'' range of movement.

The second evidence used in the passage is that supplying blood to the head vertically held high would have required pretty high blood pressure at the heart, and in turn, much larger size of hearts. However, the professor argues that another living animal with similar situation did manage to develop stronger heart that could exert much greater pressure.

It is also stated in the passage that if long necks of sauropods were held vertically and used for browsing high trees it would have taken much greater s
